About Funmi
As a Biomedical Science graduate with a 2:1 and a First in my dissertation, I bring both academic rigour and a supportive teaching style to my tutoring. I structure my lessons to build confidence and independence over time. At the start, I take time to understand each student’s strengths and areas for development. I also give them a short diagnostic test so I can pinpoint exactly where they need support. From there, we focus on one exam question per session. We break it down together, looking at how to plan, structure, and write strong responses. As the student grows in confidence, I gradually step back and give them more responsibility in tackling questions themselves. Eventually, we move on to full exam papers, which I mark using the official mark schemes. I then provide clear, detailed feedback so they know exactly how to improve. With experience tutoring English and Science both in-person and online, I’ve developed a calm and encouraging approach that helps students stay motivated and see real progress.

My lessons are carefully designed to build confidence and independence. I begin by learning about each student’s strengths and areas for improvement; this helps me tailor our sessions to their specific needs. Together, we break it down step by step, focusing on skills like planning, analysis, timing, and technique. As students grow more confident, I gradually reduce the level of support, encouraging them to take the lead. Eventually, we move on to full exam papers, which I mark using official mark schemes. I provide detailed feedback so students can clearly see their progress and know exactly how to improve. My ultimate goal is to help each student feel prepared, capable, and exam-ready.
