About Benedict
I am a professional session musician based in Cardiff. I play in regularly performing function bands and jazz bands. The majority of work I have done is in jazz and funk genres. I also play in party bands with more mainstream music. My career so far has taken me on multiple tours of Europe, to perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Jazz is my main practice and the musicians who are particularly influential to me at the moment are Christian McBride, and Esperanza Spalding. I enjoy teaching students and find I learn as much from teaching as I do from my own practice.

My aim as a teacher is to help students progress their technique, theory, and performance practice. Lessons will be between 45 mins - 60 mins and will focus on the student's interest. I have all relevant qualifications to teach bass guitar having completed a degree in music at Cardiff University. My lessons are for anyone interested in learning music and interested in playing the bass. I teach all levels and ages.

Excellent! Benedict went through my musical preferences, taking note of a few songs I want to learn.
He described an average lesson with him and how they were designed to meet my requirements.
I have not decided on who I will take lessons with but Benedict will be on any short list for this.Perfect! If anyone is lucky enough to select Benedict as their music teacher they are undoubtedly going to achieve success in what they’re learning. Benedict is a fun and very open teacher allowing you to learn your favourite songs and also learn different techniques along the way, the lessons are also very engaging and always have a purpose so your don’t feel like your wasting money on a potential hobby. Other than being kind and supportive Benedict is also very immersive with his music and is open to all types of music which makes him such a great teacher.

Benedict has been a great mentor to me.
He teaches with clear instructions. For example, he taught me how to walk a bass line to a blues with emphasis to the length of the notes. When I applied his methods to playing with my bandmates, it sounded amazing! I think that he is the kind of musician that can both teach and play with great feel!
I recommend him to anyone who wishes to develop strong bass playing skills (in bands particularly) and improve general techniques.I have been taught bass and guitar from Ben. I found him to be supportive and patient. He has a great depth of knowledge on jazz in general and makes learning new skills enjoyable. I really recommend him to anyone looking to learn.
Benedict is one of the most talented bassists and all round musicians I have met. He has incredible technical facility as well as creative musical ideas. He is easy to get along with and very patient. He comes with my highest recommendation!
Benedict is a great tutor, I cannot recommended him highly enough! He is patient and clearly explains things to me. If you're looking for bass lessons, Benedict is your man!
