About Emma
Hey! I'm Emma, I'm a graduate of English and History. I have expertise in classical literature, modern literature, poetry, film, television, and even medieval works and Shakespeare. I've produced essays from 500 words to over 10,000 and would love to share these skills to help you feel more confident in your English Lit. I believe in a fun, relaxed, and above all student led approach to learning, so let me know what you want to achieve, and I'll put all my effort into helping you get there.

English Lit can be hard! I'm here to help. We'll start with a chat where you tell me what you want to work on. Whether it's analyzing a text, understanding Shakespeare, or improving your essay writing skills. From there, if you want, you can send me some samples of work you've submitted in the past so we can go into our first session with some goals for the future. During sessions I will tailor what we do to the areas you want to work on. For essays this could involve looking at good and bad examples, practice plans and writing, or going over work you want to improve before submitting. For analyzing literature we'll go over characters, themes, and settings, then talk about how you can use each in relation to exam questions. In terms of tutoring I am comfortable with all ages and levels (up to undergrad) but believe I could be most useful to high school students looking to develop their English Lit or Language for exams.

I supervised Emma during her time working as a white water canoe guide at Camp Arowhon summer camp. Emma is a compassionate, patient and knowledgeable teacher who cares about the connection she makes with every one of the students she interacts with. Emma skilfully developed a number of fun yet detailed teaching sessions in order to teach important information to campers in an engaging and memorable manner. Emma’s combination of genuine kindness, intelligence and natural teaching ability make her an excellent choice to further your English skills with.
Emma is my daughter and has always been a prolific and passionate reader. She attained straight A grades in all her subjects at school but it was never a surprise that she chose to study English at University. In her spare time she has gained the qualifications and experience to lead kayaking and conoeing expeditions and I have been inspired by the competence, clarity and enthusiasm in passing on her knowledge to me. I know she will make an excellent teacher.
Emma is a creative and passionate tutor who can make any topic interesting. She has great in depth knowledge of English and history but seems to know something about everything!
