About Sherrie
My method is straight and down to earth. I get to know them and give them time to get to know me. I don't focus on what they can't do, I focus on what they can do and work from that. I want them to know that I love what I do and I really care about helping them succeed. I was a professional teacher who taught Art Ed and Multi-Level K-12 for many years. My biggest feeling of success is when I see someone who comes to me with doubts as to their ability to read and after a few weeks, I get to see the changes in their abilities and confidence!

I have a very distinct method in the way I teach reading. Initially, I help a student to believe in their own abilities and then I motivate them to actually enjoy what they are reading! I do a quick assessment of their ability and their desire to want to read. I can work the student who isn't interested in reading by finding the actual reason why they are not having success. I then concentrate on changing their perceptions or any negative feelings if they appear to be a stumbling block for them.
