I structure my 60-minute classes to keep young minds engaged without screen fatigue:
The First 5 Minutes: A quick, low-stakes warm-up or puzzle to review the previous lesson and get the student comfortable talking.
Next 20 Minutes: Core concept delivery. I break down the new topic into small chunks using visual tools, diagrams, and practical examples.
Next 25 Minutes: Guided to independent practice. The student takes control of the screen or whiteboard. We solve problems together, starting with simple school-level questions and gradually moving to tougher application-based problems.
Last 10 Minutes: The student summarizes what they learned today in their own words, we map out a quick homework task, and I provide constructive feedback.
