About Elisabeth
I have experience in giving piano lessons to beginners (most commonly to children aged 6-10) where I taught them the very basics of piano (e.g. correct position, identifying notes, practising to count beats, learning the basics of reading sheet music etc.) and then progressed to them playing several pieces of their own choosing. Also, during lockdown I taught students remotely through Zoom. My other experience includes teaching the keyboard to larger groups of children (on a group and individual basis) to play songs in unison for school concerts and events. I am an understanding person and find it easy to relate and adapt to the particular needs of each student. My patience and flexibility are qualities that help me find effective ways of teaching musical concepts to all kinds of students.

I offer piano lessons to beginner and intermediate students who are looking to learn to play for their own pleasure or for help towards an exam. Lessons begin with warm-up exercises (such as scales, arpeggios and patterned melodies) and lead to practising several pieces. I welcome you to bring your own pieces to the lessons since it is important to play pieces you can enjoy: they will be more fun to learn and will create a greater sense of reward once you can play them fluently! If you would prefer, I could choose appropriate pieces for you, and if you are aiming to take a music exam, we can work on the exam pieces with more structure and focus. Each person learns in a slightly different way, so lessons will be catered to your specific needs. For example, if you are someone who learns visually, I would focus more on teaching through sheet music and demonstration. Similarly, if you prefer to learn by sound I would offer more exercises with listening to and singing/clapping rhythms and melodies out loud. As well as this, music theory and sight reading is integrated into my lessons to ensure that each student is knowledgeable and comfortable to play piano at the level that is right for them.
