About Sachen
Mathematics and physics have been huge parts of my academic journey, shaping the way I think and approach complex problems. I started as a matric student in 2020, achieving 7 distinctions including 90+ in both Mathematics. I was fortunate to continue this success at UCT, where I've maintained distinctions in all university-level mathematics modules (incuding applied maths, engineering maths 1a and 1b, linear algebra and differential equations and vector calculas) while I was pursuing my Engineering Honors degree. My biggest passion in academics is building strong conceptual foundations. I believe that mastering fundamental principles lays the groundwork for long-term improvement, and my tutoring focuses on giving students deep understanding—not just memorizing formulas, but truly grasping the mathematical and physical ideas behind them. Beyond my own studies, I have experience helping fellow students navigate challenging concepts, always emphasizing strategic thinking and systematic problem-solving. I currently work in investment banking after honing my skills, practically applying my knowledge in the quant space. The problem-solving mindset from chess (where I represented South Africa at junior level) has translated seamlessly into my academic work, where I analyze complex systems and develop efficient solutions. I also take my personal development seriously, believing that discipline and continuous improvement are key to success. Whether in academics, chess, or fitness, I am always striving for excellence and helping others do the same. This holistic approach to growth has taught me that success in mathematics and physics isn't just about talent—it's about the right mindset, structured approach, and consistent effort.
