About James
Having achieved grade 9s (the equivalent of A**) in GCSE Maths, Physics, Biology, and English Language this summer, I am offering GCSE Mathematics and Physics tutoring to students of all abilities. I am confident, easy going and approachable which helps me to propel students through the GCSE syllabus. Since a young age, I have been passionate about Maths and the sciences, which shows in my A-level options of Further Maths and Physics.
MY EXPERIENCE:
I distinctly remember after every set of exams in Secondary School, I would overnight become the most popular kid in the school, with people asking me for help with the questions they didn't understand, asking me the night before the exam to explain everything from the quadratic formula to the cosine rule!
In Year 11 I was offered the opportunity to teach a Year 7 Maths class, which gave me experience in creating lesson plans, breaking down concepts to lower-ability students and ensuring the work was done by ever-distracted kids!
Having failed GCSE English in the Easter Mocks, I was very close to giving up and accepting defeat; having to resit In year 12. I instead persisted and "tutored" myself, a dyslexic who hated English, turning that U into a 9 in just 3 short weeks of work. Showing it's never too late to turn your results around.

TEACHING METHODOLOGIES
Lessons will always start out with asking each student what area of the subject they believe they need help in, as it is important for a student to understand their weaknesses so that they can truly embrace the process of learning.
Next the highlighted area of concern will be stripped down to its core concepts, ensuring complete understanding before being built back up to be able to answer exam style questions.
Following the understanding of a new idea, specific questions will be set for the student to answer under support, with any mistakes being corrected and understood.
Finally, every lesson will end with an independent study task for the student to complete during the week, which will be reviewed at the start of the next lesson.
INFORMATION:
- Lessons will be 1/2/3 hours in length.
- It is advised that lessons are scheduled every week, reiterating content to keep it fresh for the exam.
