About Sourjya
Hello! I’m Sourjya, an enthusiastic and experienced Biology educator and department leader with over a decade of international teaching experience. I specialise in teaching KS3, IGCSE, and A-Level Biology and have helped hundreds of students build a solid understanding of the subject while excelling in their academic goals. I hold a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham, and I’m currently completing the prestigious National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL). My teaching journey has taken me across India, the UAE, Indonesia, and China, where I’ve taught diverse learners using the British, Cambridge International, and Pearson Edexcel curricula. As a former Assistant Head of School and current Head of Faculty for Natural Sciences, I bring not only subject expertise but also strong insight into curriculum design, assessments, and student development. I’ve also served as a Pearson Edexcel Exam Officer, giving me a unique perspective on what examiners look for and how students can prepare effectively. I’m passionate about making science meaningful and enjoyable. My teaching style is structured yet flexible, focused on helping students become independent, confident learners. My approach to teaching Biology blends curiosity, clarity, and confidence-building. I focus on making complex concepts easy to understand by using real-life examples, diagrams, and questioning techniques that encourage deeper thinking. Every lesson is student-centred and tailored to the learner’s pace and style—whether you're a visual learner who benefits from models and mind maps, or someone who thrives with guided notes and problem-solving tasks. A typical session lasts 60 minutes, designed to strike the right balance between content delivery, interaction, and independent thinking. I provide structured lessons with regular recap quizzes, formative feedback, and exam-style questions to ensure consistent progress. With over 10 years of international teaching experience, I’ve taught students from diverse backgrounds in British, Cambridge, and Edexcel curricula. I hold a Master’s in Biotechnology, a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham, and am currently pursuing a Senior Leadership qualification (NPQSL). I've also worked as a Pearson Edexcel Exam Officer, so I can offer exam insights that go beyond just teaching the syllabus.
