About Georgie
I am enthusiastic, organised and extremely friendly. I have a fairly relaxed tutoring style, placing emphasis on understanding and confidence. I am a motivated, hard-working individual and I do my upmost - such as preparation and time management - to provide the most beneficial exercises and lessons for my pupils.
As an English native with qualifications in both English Literature and Language, I have a solid and extensive understanding of the English language and can aid students at all levels. My roles as an assistant tennis coach, a teaching assistant at a secondary school for children with special needs and as a volunteer English teacher in Madagascar have allowed me to perfect skills necessary as an EFL tutor: clarity of explanation and expression, the ability to cater methods of learning to individuals of different capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills when devising entertaining, educative content and forming meaningful and beneficial relationships with students.
I have ample experience as an EFL teacher specifically, having just finished my three month tenure as an English Teacher in a high school in Saint-Nazaire, France. I taught large classes of French pupils – as well as tutoring individual students and small groups – and catered my grammar, comprehension, listening and speaking lessons to all required abilities. From the feedback received, I greatly encouraged my pupils’ enjoyment of learning English and equipped them with the necessary confidence and skills for their exams.
I am currently studying French and History at Durham University myself, so I have a good understanding of the difficulties and requirements of both French and History students. I can relate and empathise with any struggles my students experience and have successful and creative techniques and exercises to facilitate their improvement and progress, having studied these subjects for 10 years. In terms of History, I specialise in Modern History, such as the history of the Soviet Union.
