About Florence
I'm a 4th year Geophysics student at the University of Edinburgh who has always had a passion for science and math. But I have noticed over the years that these subjects are often taught using only one non-intuitive approach, leaving many students behind. That's why I love debating the different ways to look at a scientific problem, and the different approaches to solving it. I've received multiple academic and external prizes for my problem solving skills. I hope I can find the scientific approach that resonates with you!

To me, the key to good problem solving is both in understanding the theory and knowing how to use it. When starting lessons, I will first identify if your difficulties are with theory or application by asking you a few questions. If they are with theory, I will go over the key principles, explaining them using different analogies, to find the one that makes it intuitive to you. To teach you how to apply the theory, we'll establish a more systematic method together that you can follow in your future exercises. I consider a lesson acquired once you can confidently talk me through how you solved a problem.
I will check up on past teaching once in a while to make sure you're not forgetting them. Of course, my lessons will be tailored to your objectives, so we'll always keep your goals in mind.

I am the Professor of Mathematical Geoscience at the University of Edinburgh. I worked with Florence during her final research project for her degree in Geophysics, and I taught some of her more mathematical courses. She is extremely reliable, self-motivated, and she explains concepts clearly and in a manner that can be understood by all. She will make an excellent tutor of Mathematics, Physics, and related subjects - I recommend her.
Florence was my tutee at the University of Edinburgh. She's a great physicist and geophysicist, and has loads to offer as a tutor herself. She's really enthusiastic, patient, and persistent, and is an excellent communicator.
