About Callum
My name is Callum, and I am an environmental science researcher currently completing my MSc in Water and Environmental Management. I previously achieved a First Class BSc in Environmental Science at the University of Brighton, where I studied a wide range of interdisciplinary modules across chemistry, biology, geology, and environmental systems.
Alongside my degree, I have taken university‑level modules in Applied Chemistry — including Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Biochemistry and Polymer Chemistry — giving me a strong scientific foundation that supports my tutoring in GCSE Science and Maths.
I’m passionate about helping young people reach their potential. Environmental science is a highly interdisciplinary subject, and studying it has given me both breadth and depth across scientific disciplines. I bring this to my tutoring by breaking down complex ideas into simple, visual explanations that students can genuinely understand.
I also draw on my industry experience, having worked as an apprentice in a QC Chemistry laboratory. This allows me to combine theoretical knowledge with real‑world scientific practice, helping students see how what they learn in school connects to future careers and opportunities.
My goal is to support students who need clear explanations, confidence‑building, and a patient, structured approach — and to help them realise that science is something they can understand and succeed in.

My sessions are designed for GCSE Science students who need clear explanations, structured support, and confidence‑building. I focus on breaking down key concepts in chemistry, biology, and physics using simple language, diagrams, and real‑world examples. A typical lesson might involve exploring a core idea — such as chemical bonding or why water has unique life‑supporting properties — and then applying it to exam‑style questions to strengthen understanding.
Every session is tailored to the student’s needs. I identify gaps, build secure foundations, and teach effective revision strategies that help students progress quickly. Lessons usually run for 30–60 minutes, depending on the intensity and focus required.
My tutoring approach developed from supporting other students during my A‑levels, and I now combine this with the academic and practical experience gained through my BSc, MSc, and industry work. My aim is to help students feel capable, supported, and ready to achieve their potential.

Perfect! Callum is clearly very passionate about his subjects and has lots of useful tips on external resources for my son to access online.
