About Tom
I have over 100 hours of tutoring experience in Chemistry, Maths and Physics, and also tutor online for 'Bibliotech' - answering questions from undergraduate chemists.
I currently have 5 regular tutees in Maths and Chemistry at all levels, from 11+ to A-Level. After working with one A-Level Chemistry tutee, once a week for 3 months, they have moved from D to 3 marks off an A-grade in their most recent mock exam.

I'm Tom, and I'm currently in fourth year of reading Chemistry at Oxford, undertaking a Masters project in Chemistry Education.
I have extensive experience tutoring both online and in person, and my pedagogy involves setting learning objectives, asking frequent, concise questions and guiding students so they can work things out for themselves, which has proven to be effective in the past. I'm a patient listener and like to teach by asking questions rather than giving answers, and am willing to put as much work in as my tutees are willing to give.
In addition, I can write summary notes for my tutees after each class, and set questions before and after to lead to a more efficient use of time during the tutorial.

Tom is an extremely insightful person who presents himself in a well mannered and organised way. I also strongly feel that I have been able to make outstanding progress in my subjects due to his hard work and being able to convey a clear understanding of key information clearly and in great detail. In addition his casual tone and kindness makes you feel relaxed and allows you to maximise your potential and ability during the tutorials. Finally, I'm extremely glad to have crossed paths with Tom as he, in particular, has helped me progressed towards reaching my potential and am extremely thankful for that.
Tom is very clear and concise in his explanations, often helping me to visualise how a certain concept works in a more simplified way. He has helped me increase my Chemistry grade from a D to an A, and encourages me to achieve full marks.
