• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I started working as a private Maths tutor when I was in my first year of university (Over 12 years ago) and I continued doing that while doing my science degree. After 5 years of tutoring, I decided that education was much more than a hobby for me and I got qualified as a teacher.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I enjoy teaching all Mathematics topics and I try to do it in such a way that it is easy to grasp, broken down insist small steps. I also like highlighting their real-life applications of each topic.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I had several role models in my life, some were classroom teacher and some were tutors. I got a good sense of what a good educator is like and how to inspire pupils.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  I believe that patience and empathy are important, as well as a good subject knowledge and pedagogy.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  I was once hire to teach German. I don't speak German but I did manage to teach a successful lesson where everyone learned something.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  The challenges I discovered is planning a variety of activities when revising a topic. In order for pupils to remember the content of the lessons, topics need to be revised regularly and that needs to be done by creating different activities and approaches to these topics, so the pupils don't get bored.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I love learning new things all the time. I do that by reading books, taking online courses and watching educational videos on YouTube. I have also created a Youtube Channel to educate pupils who can't afford a tutor (Academic Owl)

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P) ?

  I have trained as a teacher in an outstanding school where I have learned to use a variety of methods to teach a topic. My lessons are great because I am also very patient and fun but I do have high expectations from my students.
