About Jake
Hello! I'm Jake and I have just recently graduated from the university of Brighton. I started looking at private tutoring a while back and now seems like the perfect time to get involved. I'm thinking of doing a masters degree in English literature in September so flexible hours of tutoring would suit me perfectly but don't worry, I will be studying part time so I will have plenty of time (and the need) to work on English with my students. I have a nephew and two niece's, one of them is a baby so no tuition needed there! but with my nine year old nephew and 8 year old niece, I have had a lot of experience helping them with their homework and prepare for tests. I encourage an attitude that creates ease and help with time management so the student is not stressed. I think the most undervalued aspect of a teachers job is to be aware of the students well being as well as their work. Having only had a year out of education since I was five years old, I understand the pressures students are under and through my own experience I can advise and help alleviate the stress. Even something as early as the 11+ can cause anxiety and that feeling can carry on all the way through school. So I believe the best approach is with a positive attitude a steady pace.
