About Maja
My musical journey began at the age of seven when I started piano lessons in my home country of Slovenia. My passion for music led me to study Musicology at the University of Ljubljana, where I also taught singing to children at a local music school.
Eager to broaden my performance skills, I moved to the UK to study Musical Theatre. Since graduating, I have gained professional performance experience, most recently completing a nine-month contract as a lead vocalist aboard a cruise ship.
As both a performer and a teacher, I understand the value of developing strong musical foundations while making learning enjoyable and inspiring. I strive to create a positive, engaging environment where students of all ages and abilities can build confidence, develop their skills and discover a lifelong love of music.

When teaching singing, my approach focuses on a blend of technique, theory, and musical expression tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student.
Here are some examples of techniques we'll cover in our lessons:
- Breath support
- Placement and resonance
- Accessing different ranges of the voice (chest/head)
- Warm up and cool down exercises
- Ear training
- Articulation and dynamics
- Musical theatre and pop/rock repertoire
- Acting through song/Storytelling
I adapt the teaching repertoire to the individual student and learn about their favourite music genres to keep lessons engaging and relevant. I also provide constructive feedback in each lesson, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
My lessons range from 30 to 45 minutes and welcome beginners of all ages, who would like to learn a new skill in a fun and relaxed environment.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Musical Theatre (Performance Preparation Academy)
- Degree in Musicology (University of Ljubljana)
- Piano (Grade 8)
- 2 years of teaching experience
