About Philip
From appearing on Eastenders to cleaning bar toilets, performing in one thousand seater, 18th century theatres to rolling around on the floor in a crypt in the name of rehearsal - you name it, I've done it, and I firmly believe it is my well-rounded experience of the industry that will give you the best, most realistic results.
Yes, I'm a multi-award-nominated actor who has toured internationally, critically acclaimed theatre shows, worked on the BBC and brought shows to life in the West End but I've also failed in auditions, not got the part, had to plug the gap between performing gigs and make my own work just to stay sane.
No actor works as an actor 100% of the time - this is the harsh reality, but my knowledge of how to keep in the loop, move with the times and graciously accept the "no's" will be the difference between feeling you're invincible and suddenly realising you're not and embracing each of these parts of your career, putting them to good use.
I've tutored young students studying for their Drama A-Levels to education professionals looking for help with confidence, public speaking and presentation skills. Amidst that, I've helped actors with their monologues for Drama School auditions, mid-career actors get their confidence back, and performers looking to create and produce their own work, to name but a few.
I have the advantage of both a Drama and Theatre Studies BA Hons degree from university as well as an MA in Drama from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts behind me, so I'm well aware of the breadth of performance styles and opportunities.
Finally, I can't promise that role or that drama school place, but I can promise you I will work my hardest to make it as possible as it can be for you. We'll make progress together; you'll learn from me, I'll learn from you and it'll all be done with the best humour behind it because, what do we have if we don't have hope?
I look forward to hearing from you.

You're here because you want to brush up on your acting skills. Or maybe improve your public speaking or presentation skills. Perhaps you want to break down your aversion to Shakespeare, find help preparing your drama school audition, work through self tape and live auditions, agent submissions or maybe you just need a sounding board for how hard this industry can be and how to keep going.
Well, guess what? I can help you with all of this...and more!
A career in The Arts is truly a marathon, and I'll help you keep it fresh, positive, exciting and progressive for you.
I've learnt so much throughout my career to date, and I'm here to offer realistic, supportive and considered approaches to help you navigate and flourish in an ever-changing industry.
I'm at home with contemporary pieces as I am with Shakespeare, Marlowe, Wilde or Greek Theatre as well as a wealth of practitioners and how to effectively use their practices.
I firmly believe that a 'one size fits all' approach just doesn't work.
Our lessons will be genuinely personalised to your needs and ability.
We will take the time to marry the material to your style and capabilities.
We'll look at casting and your casting type, and how that feeds into any pieces we are working on.
Our sessions together will be truly collaborative. Above anything, I want to make sure what we are working towards is achievable, realistic and something that genuinely brings you fulfilment.
My sessions also include:
*Actioning text
*Self-tape technique
*Audition prep and technique
*Public Speaking and Presentation skills
*Confidence Building
*Performer Mentoring - Jobs database navigation, Spotlight and Showreel guidance, how to get by in life, casting director/agent submissions.

Philip is an exceptional tutor who thoroughly covered the fundamentals and clearly explained a wide range of presentation skills. He supported me through various exams and helped me feel better about my presentations. Philip is extremely patient, intelligent, and gently provides insightful ideas and constructive guidance on how to move forward. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking support.
Philip helped my daughter Victoria prepare her drama monologue for secondary school entry, and we couldn’t have asked for a better tutor.
He is incredibly kind, calm, and encouraging, and he immediately put her at ease. What I appreciated most about his teaching was how he built her confidence step by step. He didn’t just focus on memorizing lines — he helped her understand the character and truly connect with the piece. You can clearly see how much he loves acting, and that passion really comes through in his teaching.
A highlight for us was seeing the transformation in her performance. With Philip’s guidance on expression, pacing, and small details, she delivered her monologue with real confidence and presence.
We’re so grateful for his support — he gave her not only strong audition preparation but confidence that will stay with her. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a tutor. We love you 🫶Philip taught Drama in Special Educational Needs provisions throughout London. He was a major asset in all of these venues and formed strong relationships with staff and students alike. Philip has all the skills required to work with students of all backgrounds and has a unique blend of patience, humour and empathy that will make him a great success wherever he goes. I heartily recommend him to you.
