About Linda
Hello, my name is Linda! I began tutoring Physics in college, where I was a Supplemental Instructor for introductory Physics classes, teaching 5-50 students at a time and helping with their homework. I taught science informally for six years in science museums, helping people of all ages understand complex subjects. Once becoming a traditional classroom teacher, I taught middle school Physics and AP Computer Science Principles for three years, with my students achieving above-average standardized test scores. I was also a frequently-requested instructor at Mathnasium, where I tutored students on-on-one in all math levels, from Kindergarten through Precalculus.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics & Astronomy, and a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication. I know the frustration that comes with not understanding a concept and I enjoy tutoring because I love seeing that moment where a student finally understands, and the confidence that results.

I believe the best way to improve any skill (like math) is through PRACTICE! In my lessons, I will assess where you need the most support, and guide you through practice problems which develop that skill. I prefer not to lecture, except to provide missing background information, and instead act as a resource to help you solve problems on your own.
Many students struggle in math because they couldn't grasp the concepts before the teacher moved on, and now are missing key skills necessary for their current course. I will help you fill those gaps in knowledge, so you can get up to speed with your current teacher. My teaching methods include spaced repetition, Socratic questioning, and direct instruction when necessary.
My lessons are for middle and high school students who are struggling in their current math class.
