My teaching method is one of making the subject enjoyable and engaging for the student, especially in asking them thought-provoking questions to make sure they understand the material covered. Emphasis on groundwork is essential to learning Classical languages, hence I encourage a rigorous and thorough approach to issues of vocabulary and grammar, as well as making sure to identify any less obvious gaps in a student's understanding of the subject. For GCSE and A level, there is no better way of learning the language than through unseen passages - my approach to teaching these involves making students identify grammatical constructs and unknown vocabulary as they go through, and the importance of context and type of literature when they are translating.
Overall I hope to make Classical languages and culture enjoyable, engaging and relevant to every student I teach - this involves a personalised approach to each student, helping them to get the best grade possible whilst appreciating the subject as a whole.
