About James
I am a friendly teacher that will work with you achieve your own goals. To enable this, I will develop your confidence in using simple information recall, before learning to tackle more complicated problems. I have worked with students that have gone on to study engineering and maths at top universities, as well as those with severe special educational needs.
After studying for a first class BSc in Physics, I gained my teaching qualification (PGCE) from the University of Oxford and taught at a mixed-gender state school in the UK for 3 years. I tutored alongside being a teacher both in-person and remotely.

I am a supportive and experienced tutor, having taught in schools and tutored privately for several years. It is my belief that the best way to make progress is to go through lessons that are rooted in clear and obvious examples. Learning this way makes even the most complicated ideas much easier for our brains to understand.
We will utilise a range of tools to best achieve the goals you set. Sessions will be personalised to you but will follow the basic pattern of:
1. Identifying weaknesses
2. Ensuring knowledge is understood
