About Charlotte
Bonjour! I’m a certified French teacher with a Bachelor of Education (French Specialization) from the University of British Columbia and experience teaching French Immersion and English programs from Kindergarten to Grade 5. I create engaging, student-centered lessons that help learners build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing French. My approach is inclusive, supportive, and adapted to each student’s needs—whether they are new to French or looking to strengthen their skills. Approach as a Tutor and How I Share My Knowledge
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My teaching approach is collaborative, student-centered, and grounded in inclusive practice. Drawing on my Bachelor of Education (French Specialization) from UBC and my experience in both French Immersion and English classrooms, I prioritize engaging students through meaningful, inquiry-based learning. I integrate differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and a focus on authentic language use to meet each learner where they are. My goal is to help students build confidence and proficiency in French by using the language in real-world, relevant contexts.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up activity—such as a game, song, or discussion—to activate prior knowledge and set a positive tone. Next, I introduce the day’s objective using visuals and modeling, followed by guided practice where students collaborate in pairs or small groups. Independent practice allows for personalized learning, with my support tailored to individual needs. Lessons conclude with reflection or sharing time, encouraging metacognition and celebrating progress.
