About Celeste
Bilingual in French and English, I grew up and was educated in France in a bilingual family, with a French father and a British mother. I moved to London to follow my passion for English Literature, then moved to Edinburgh to pursue a master's and I just completed my PhD in English Literature, in which I also studied French philosophy. I am a compassionate, enthusiastic and optimistic person and I always pursue what I am passionate about. I believe my academic knowledge as well as my tutoring experience enable me to help, encourage and inspire those who wish to learn effectively and with a positive mindset! I have 8 years of tutoring experience in both French and English, at all levels. I have helped students with English up to Advanced Highers level in Scotland and A level in England, as well as Primary and Secondary level. I have considerable experience teaching French to children as well as adults, from the age of 5 years old onwards! I have experience with both in-person and online tutoring, with students from around the world. I am also a Tutor at the University of Edinburgh and I have been teaching undergraduate seminars at university level (First and Second years) since September 2021. I have professional accreditation as Associate Fellow of Higher Education (Advance HE).

The basis of my tutoring mindset is to build self-confidence because I believe this is the most important step to learn efficiently. Words, language and literature can seem like daunting worlds to conquer, but I believe they are incredibly resourceful tools in life, which enable us to evolve personally as well as academically, and this is what I aim to show through my tutoring! I always encourage positivity and determination because I think the key to effective tutoring is to first and foremost establish a relationship of trust with my tutees. Rather than a task, I want to show that literature and languages are an opportunity to not only evolve and grow individually, but also expand the mind's horizons in both a personal and an academic setting.

Céleste is the most wonderful French tutor we could have hoped to find for our son. Starting when he was five years old (he is now almost ten), his sessions with Céleste have remained a highlight of his week. Blending online and in-person lessons to help accommodate our busy family schedule, Céleste uses a wide variety of fun and engaging learning materials, often brought back from her regular trips to France.
