About Lucy
I always loved working with students, whether it's with math or other areas. I started teaching early, coaching badminton as a high school student, and now I work as an after-school mentor with Junior Achievement, helping high school students grow their own business and financial literacy. Working with students from different backgrounds has made me super comfortable working with kids and teens of all ages. I know how to connect, explain things clearly, and make learning feel way less intimidating. Whether I’m helping a student solve their first equation or breaking down a budgeting concept, I always bring patience, encouragement, and a “you got this” attitude. Math can be tough, but with the right support — and someone who genuinely cares — any student can thrive. That’s the energy I bring to every session.

I work with students from elementary to high school covering all topics taught in the Alberta math curriculum. I help with anything from exam preparation or homework/assignment help. As a tutor, I adjust my teaching approach based on individual students' strengths and weaknesses. I focus on guiding students instead of giving answers as I believe understanding the "why" is more important than just memorizing steps. As a student myself, I understand exactly what it feels like to feel frustrated, and always second-guessing myself. I also understand how good it feels when everything finally clicks. I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into simpler steps and using lots of practice so my students have their own "Ah ha" moment.
