About Lynn
I am a native Mandarin speaker currently completing a Master of Education at the University of Melbourne. Before moving to Melbourne, I studied Journalism and gained professional experience in television journalism and new media, where strong communication, clear expression and a high level of spoken and written Chinese were essential parts of my work.
My background in both journalism and education has given me a strong understanding of language, communication and how people learn. As a former TV journalist, I am particularly confident in Mandarin pronunciation, spoken expression and helping others communicate their ideas clearly and naturally.
I am passionate about creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I understand that learning a language can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to speaking, so I want my students to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and gradually building confidence. My lessons are designed around each student’s goals and current level. I focus on practical Mandarin that students can actually use in real-life situations, while also helping with pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and natural expression.
As a native Mandarin speaker with a background in journalism and communication, I can also help students improve their spoken Chinese, pronunciation and confidence in expressing themselves clearly. Lessons can be adapted for beginners, conversational practice, everyday Chinese, or students who want to improve specific areas. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes.
