About Amy
Since stepping back from the classroom, I’ve found a rich love of exploring books and online pedagogy. I love reading, play piano and flute and have a menagerie of rescue animals that have taken over my house. I’m a keen gardener, but only when it’s dry.

As a teacher of over 7 years, with middle leadership experience in Key Stage 4, I specialise in GCSE English language and literature. I have been a team leader for a major exam board for 4 years now, and have a detailed understanding of how to approach the exams. I also worked as online learning lead following the pandemic and am skilled in creating lessons that are functional online. I use a combination of taught content, interactive quizzes and worksheets and discussion-based learning to engage students. I approach sessions by breaking down big concepts into easy-to-manage smaller chunks, allowing students to thrive before we move on to the next step. I find this builds confidence as well as skill. In practice, I have worked with students with multiple learning difficulties and as such, I am experienced in breaking down learning to make it accessible. I also have experience in AQA English Literature A Level and can support students in this area. I am passionate about ensuring that all students reach their potential and excel to achieve their goals and ambitions. Through my classroom knowledge and exam board skills, I am well placed to support students throughout their journey. I completed my master's in Engagement in English lessons, and have a vast array of experience in supporting learners who find English challenging for multiple reasons, including EAL.
