About Christopher
Currently a freelance musician in the Sarasota, Florida area, Chris Pate is a former US Army Band member who holds music performance degrees from University of Northern Colorado and Indiana University. His focus in school was on solo, chamber and orchestral music, but Chris' time in the army allowed him to explore other areas of trumpet playing, including: jazz, New Orleans brass band, and bugling.

My main teaching influences come from the Bill Adam and Vincent Cichowicz schools of thought, with flow and musicality being primary drivers in the approach to playing trumpet. The focus on each lesson will vary, but will typically revolve around a variety of topics, such as: sound, articulation, flexibility, response, intonation, and music. Trumpet playing can be made easy, but requires a high level of focus and attention to detail. These lessons are geared towards players with at least a couple years of trumpet experience, but can also help beginners and college level musicians.

Perfect! Friendly, helpful
- Luke has certainly improved from last week! I appreciate his willingness to learn and try new things. He even played the next higher pitch on the bugle! I think getting a loaner trumpet (with valves) from his school would helpful so he's not limited to the few pitches available on the bugle.
