About Howard
Teaching is really about inspiration, not information. Effective teaching focuses on why and how, not what. The goal should be to spark each student’s imagination, to find a hook in their heart and mind so that they feel a need to learn the material. The rest is easy, because the student then drives his or her learning. My role as a teacher is to ask provocative questions, and to help the students make a path toward the answers. If they are motivated to find the path, they will carve it themselves. If I have to pull out a mental machete to expose the path, then I haven’t done my job.

First of all, I would test the student's understanding so far, what they have learned in school by giving them a pop quiz so that I could learn where their weaknesses are. After that, I will start to schedule what topics should be prioritized and start from the difficulty. I would press the topics which are hotly targeted by MPM and give exercises as practice makes perfect. At the beginning of every lesson, I would question the points I emphasized from the recent lesson and if there is still an enigma, I would discuss it with my student again. My lesson will be around 1 and a half hours as it is the optimal time for learning, not too long nor too short. I get that having extra classes is exhausting for students but our undying spirit leads us here. That is why we shall never give up. My lesson is for high school students in the age range of 12-16 years old. This is the time students need help the most!
