About Jon
Dad of 4 children (11-21 years) and 4 dogs (cairn, 2 borders and a greyhound). Enjoy life and try to see the best in, and draw the best from everyone. Enjoy visiting new places in our motorhome, geocaching and spending time with family. Down to earth and friendly, we will work together and have a laugh whilst learning. I aim to get you to realise that maths can be successful for everyone, through developing and applying core skills that transfer across the whole curriculum. I don`t subscribe to the notion of `one session then silence`; if you need some support with maths homework, or you just need an extra bit of contact between sessions, I will do all I can to make this happen. If you`re looking for someone that can nurture and foster a love of maths, as well as someone who genuinely wants to know how you get on in between sessions, get in touch. If you`ve got a dog, please expect me to make a huge fuss of it - I currently tutor families to the tune of 9 dogs - and love it! I have 22 years teaching, including 9½ years in primary followed by time leading in secondary on e-learning, numeracy across the curriculum and KS3 maths. Have had lots of success with GCSE students through drawing out hidden potential, and am known in school as Mr Motivator (without the lycra, though, if you`re old enough to remember THAT Mr Motivator!) I am also an Edexcel examiner (marker) so have a good understanding of the requirements for the current specification. As far as tutoring goes, I've enjoyed lots of success over the past three years, and have around 250 hours experience to date.
