Hi, my name is Sam and I have been tutoring maths for seven years. I have a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Leeds, where I graduated with First Class Honours, achieving among the top few in my year for many of my modules. Hi, my name is Sam and I have been tutoring maths for seven years. I have a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Leeds, where I graduated with First Class Honours and achieved among the top few in my year for many of my modules. I have since pursued my passion as a tutor and have delivered over 2000 hours of 1-1 tuition to students studying at GCSE, A-level and undergraduate levels.
I specialise in GCSE and A-level maths tuition and have helped over 50 students meet and exceed their target grades: many achieving the top scores. As well as working in education, I have worked and trained extensively as a personal coach and became ICF-accredited in early 2021. This coaching experience has drastically influenced my approach to tutoring, providing me with the tools to help students become more motivated, independent and resourceful learners. Furthermore, it's taught me how to help students set ambitious and achievable goals for themselves and keep them on track using the power of accountability. Finally, my coaching practice has shown me how to build and maintain strong rapport with students, developing a relationship of trust and mutual respect upon which effective learning and growth can occur.
While I offer in-person tuition for those who want it, I deliver most of my tuition online and believe it is an excellent option for those outside my travelling range. While it doesn't offer the same level of intimacy as in-person tutoring, it does come with its advantages! These benefits include annotated online notes — which are much easier for the student to store and keep organised — and a greater wealth of in-lesson resources made possible by internet access. Online tuition also provides an excellent solution for students who experience anxiety and find the prospect of one-to-one tuition in person a little daunting.

Sam has been tutoring me A'level maths since September 2020, he is 100% reliable and always punctual. He used to come to my home to tutor me but then we moved to online tutoring which has proved to be just as effective. Sam is exceptionally patient and can explain things to me in lots of different ways until I get a full understanding. We often work through problems together so Sam can see where I am making mistakes and he guides me so I can identify the correct method for myself.
Sam has been teaching me maths for over a year and I have understood and gained so much knowledge from every lesson. He explains difficult concepts very clearly and always gives me questions to practice. Also, Sam is a very friendly person and I enjoy talking to him during our lessons. I would recommend Sam to anyone who is looking for outstanding maths tutoring.

Sam is definitely an A* Maths tutor.Sam tutored two of my daughters in 2020 - one in year 11 whose GCSEs were then cancelled and then her younger sister whose lessons were online and who will be doing her GCSEs in 2021. Sam was very knowledgeable of the course and content, patient with the girls, good at explaining concepts, easy to understand, easy to communicate with - Orla said he made maths so much easier! He is young and so the girls found him approachable and understanding of their situation. I would have no hesitation in using Sam again or in recommending him to others.
