About Lucy
Hi, I'm Lucy! I've recently graduated from the University of Bath with a First Class Honours Degree in Biology and I am now starting my Masters Degree in Immunology at the University of Exeter. My passion lies in Science and I want to help students build their understanding and confidence in the subject!
Interestingly, Biology was my hardest subject in GCSEs! When I discovered my passion for investigating the human body and all of the weird and wonderful things it does, this completely changed! Having experienced the power of supportive teaching, I understand how valuable the right support is. My aim is to help students become confident in challenging areas, develop effective study techniques and discover their own confidence and enthusiasm.
After a heavy reliance on Maths for my degree I have built strong foundational knowledge, all of which required on the GCSE curriculum. Alongside this, I have previous experience tutoring students in GCSE Mathematics, developing my tutoring techniques to clearly explain challenging concepts and adapt my teaching to different learning styles.
I believe tutoring should be supportive, fun and tailored to each student to help them build their confidence. I'm here to help you achieve your goals!

I offer tailored support through a friendly personalised approach to tutoring to help students become independent learners. Through one-on-one online tutoring, I aim to understand the most challenging areas to tailor sessions for each individual's needs and learning style.
These sessions can be interactive through Q&A, exam questions, guided problem solving and the "teach-back" method, where students explain concepts in their own words to reinforce understanding. In addition, we can review previous assessments, working through the questions to identify mistakes, strengthen weaker areas and develop effective exam techniques.
The goal of these sessions is to develop students' confidence and help them become independent learners, ready to tackle a range of exam questions. Previous tutees have felt their confidence grow leading to improved grades as well as an enjoyment of the subject.
These lessons are aimed at GCSE Mathematics or Biology/Physics Students and A-level/IB Biology. Students who want to strengthen specific areas, prepare for exams or gain confidence are all welcome.
Each session will be an hour long and with time and pace flexible to each student.
