About Joshua
I am a recent first-class Biochemistry (integrated Master's) graduate from the University of Oxford committed to sharing my passion for maths and the life sciences with GCSE and A-Level students. I have one year of previous tuition experience with Kumon UK, and three years' experience as a Junior Tennis Coach at Bowdon LTC. I have diverse academic interests and expertise, including topics such as immunology, biotechnology and cancer biology. I am particularly passionate about the diverse mechanisms of gene regulation. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to explore this interest further, through studying the fascinating epigenetic process of X-chromosome inactivation as part of my research-based Master's Project in the well-respected Brockdorff Lab in Oxford. Prior to University I attended an all-boys Grammar School in the North-West, achieving 4 A*s at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Maths. Outside of learning, I am a keen sportsman and played football to 1st XI level for both my school and Oxford college. I support Manchester City and enjoy attending games whenever possible! I also enjoy tennis, hiking, golf and playing the piano.

I adopt a flexible style to teaching and aim to cater specifically to the needs and abilities of individual students through the delivery of fun and engaging lessons. Depending on a student's academic goals, lessons (60 mins) could, for example, focus on explaining and discussing topics they are finding challenging; reviewing specific past-paper questions or full past papers set as homework; or discussing the key principles of exam technique. Tuition is aimed at students of all abilities.
