About Jake
I am a conscientious and dedicated tutor, driven by intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellence—for myself, and for the students I teach. I believe education should be transformative, equipping individuals with the ability to articulate ideas with clarity and sophistication, engage with complex material critically, and wield language with both precision and authority. Teaching is an extension of my own love for language and analysis—an opportunity to foster the same intellectual curiosity in others. I don’t subscribe to rigid, formulaic methods; every student absorbs and processes knowledge in their own way, and meaningful progress requires a tailored, responsive approach. I am deeply invested in helping students realise their full potential—not only by achieving academic success but also by cultivating a sense of confidence in their abilities. Through personalised guidance, I aim to inspire students to approach their studies with a sense of empowerment and enthusiasm. Every student’s journey is unique, and I am committed to adapting my teaching to provide the right balance of challenge, support, and encouragement. My academic journey—having consistently achieved A* grades and graduating with a First-Class degree in English and Creative Writing—was shaped by the influence of excellent teaching. It is this experience that drives my commitment to offering my students the same calibre of support and insight. I want to help students not only excel but also develop the critical thinking and confidence that will serve them well in both academic and professional settings.
