About Charlotte
Hello!
I'm Charlotte, a tutor in English, Reading, Literacy, History and Essay Writing. I have a passion for reading, literature and history and experience in tutoring students from a variety of learning and academic levels.
I am a recent graduate from Royal Holloway, University of London with a First in English and History, in addition to department awards in essay writing and the Harrison Prize college award for the top joint honours student.
My goal is to make our lessons as personalised to you as possible, whether you struggle with reading comprehension, essay writing or getting that top grade, each student will get a tailored lesson structure and help sheets.

I have experience tutoring up to GCSE level and am looking to tutor from KS3 to Undergraduate Level (11-21 years approximate) in English, History, Reading and Essay Writing. Also, I have experience with dyslexic students and those with other potential learning difficulties such as ADHD.
Outside of experience, I have a First-Class BA (Hons) in English and History, alongside awards from Royal Holloway University of London in independent essay writing and top academic achievement across the college. I have 16 GCSEs with 10 A*s including English Literature, Language and History as well as A Levels in History (A*) English Literature (A) and Spanish (A).
My lesson structures are tailor-made for each student I take.
Starting with analysing a piece of recent work and speaking directly to the student and/or parent, I highlight key areas for improvement in their written work and reading comprehension to focus our sessions on.
Each lesson lasts one hour, with the first section revolving around improving completed student tasks from school or university and the second working on personalised set tasks. These tasks vary student by student, but typically involve reading and analysing short pieces of text, planning essay questions and writing paragraphs which we then exchange. I am also very familiar with Edexcel and AQA GCSE and A level mark schemes in English and History, and have tasks based around "learning the mark scheme" for exam preparation.
Furthermore, I have help sheets on several topics to send to each student after our sessions in order to give extra guidance outside of lesson hours.

Charlotte tutors my son who is in Yr 8. He struggles with essay writing. Charlotte is always 100% prepared for each lesson, works through assignments methodically and slowly at a manageable pace, and has an approachable manner. She is helping a great deal to build my son's confidence and provide him with the creative writing tools that he missed out on due to us moving countries and Covid.
