About Sara

My name is Sara, and teaching has always come from a place of care, patience, and understanding for me. I know first-hand how overwhelming school and exams can feel, especially when confidence is low or lessons move too fast. That is why I am passionate about teaching in a way that feels calm, supportive, and tailored to each individual student. I am a First-Class Biomedical Sciences graduate, with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Business Studies. Alongside my academic journey, I have also developed a strong awareness of the emotional side of learning and the pressures young people face. I currently work with a teenage helpline, supporting young people through difficult moments by listening without judgement and offering calm, compassionate guidance. This experience has strengthened my ability to communicate gently, build trust, and recognise when a student may need reassurance as much as academic support. It deeply influences how I teach, with empathy, patience, and sensitivity. What matters most to me is helping students feel heard, understood, and capable. I take time to build trust and create a safe space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I am naturally patient and gentle in my approach, and I genuinely enjoy seeing students grow in confidence as their understanding improves. I work especially well with students who may feel anxious about exams, struggle with confidence, or need concepts explained in a different way. I also enjoy supporting motivated students who want to strengthen their understanding and achieve higher grades through structured, personalised support. Teaching is not just about grades for me, it’s about helping students believe in themselves, develop resilience, and realise that they can succeed when they are supported in the right way.

My approach to tutoring is built on patience, understanding, and genuine care for each student as an individual. Creating a calm, supportive, and judgement-free environment is very important to me, as this is where real learning and confidence can grow. The first lesson is always about getting to know the student. I take time to understand their learning style, whether they learn best through visual methods, hands-on (kinaesthetic) practice, listening and discussion, or a combination of approaches. I also look at how they feel about the subject, what they find difficult, and what has or hasn’t worked for them in the past. This allows me to tailor my teaching completely to the individual, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Based on this, I design personalised resources and teaching materials that match the student’s learning style and pace. Over time, I create a structured series of notes, explanations, and practice resources specifically for that student. These are carefully built around what helps them understand best, and are designed to be clear, organised, and reassuring. Students can keep these resources, so everything they like, understand, and respond well to is recorded in one place for revision and confidence-building. In lessons, I focus on strong foundations first, then gradually develop understanding and exam-ready skills. I use clear explanations, step-by-step problem-solving, visual aids, exam-style questions, and past paper practice, always adapting the pace to suit the student. Questions are encouraged at all times, and mistakes are treated as part of the learning process, not something to fear. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted where needed. Each session usually includes a short recap, focused teaching, guided practice, and time to revisit anything the student feels unsure about. I am a First-Class Biomedical Sciences graduate with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Business Studies. I have experience supporting GCSE-level students, and I understand both the curriculum requirements and the emotional pressures that can come with exam years. My lessons are suitable for GCSE students, typically aged 13–16, including those who feel anxious, lack confidence, or need concepts explained more clearly and patiently. I also support students who are motivated to improve their grades and want structured, personalised guidance. Above all, I teach with kindness, consistency, and encouragement, helping students not only improve academically, but also feel heard, supported, and confident in their own abilities.
