About Umera
I am a Fine Art student at Chelsea College of Arts, at the University of the Arts London. I have taught as a tutor for various subjects and ages for over 2 years, and offer drawing, painting, and other art-based classes.

My teaching approach is a combination of theory and practical. I like to give my students a solid foundation in each subject before I teach them the technical skills, so then they have the right tool set to apply their own style and creativity to in the future.
If you are a new learner, you will start from the utmost basics for progression into a confident artist. If you already have the foundation knowledge and would like specific classes catered for you eg. oil painting skills, this can be our focus instead.
A typical lesson structure of mine is:
1. Start with an introduction if you are new, or do a homework critique from the previous lesson
2. Learn something new through presentations made by myself, live demonstrations, or both. Discussions are also important and I always give the opportunity for you to ask questions.
3. It will then be your turn to apply what you've learnt. I usually start with a warm up activity, before leading onto a bigger task.
4. Discussing and critiquing the outcome of your work in that lesson so you know what you are doing well and what we need to work on.
5. I will give you a 'homework' task to complete before the next lesson so you are able to practise what you learnt.
My classes are held online.
