About Emily
Hi my name is Emily, and I am an English teacher from England and Japan. I have a passion for teaching languages and exploring a broad range of subjects with students during lessons. ⭑ I believe that to really immerse yourself in a new language, it's important to be able to talk fluently, with confidence about the things that matter most to oneself. ⭑ I try to build up areas of confidence in topics that students are passionate about, and in turn this impacts their overall fluency and confidence. ⭑ Being a passionate language learner myself, I understand the anxiety that learners can face in making mistakes or lacking confidence. ✩A little about my hobbies and interests.. ✩ I have a Bachelor's Degree from Goldsmiths University of London in Fine Art and History of Art. Since graduating, alongside teaching English I have been working across the arts in floristry and set design. I have been learning Japanese since 2014, and enjoyed learning German at school as one of my A-Levels. Through studying and working alongside people from many backgrounds, I have been inspired to learn many languages including Italian, Arabic, Spanish and French. I have been fortunate to have many language teachers myself! My other interests include cooking, gardening, reading, and filmmaking.

- TEFL certified since 2023, and following the TEFL teaching method. - Lessons are for all levels and ages! - Lessons structured along a particular theme and homework assignments set where appropriate. - Lessons are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour - I focus on natural conversation, pronunciation, and vocabulary. - Reading used as a tool to improve fluency and I encourage students to bring texts to lessons that interest them. - I also specialise in speaking in an artistic context and help artists to find ways to express themselves through words. - I believe that confidence in self-expression is one of the most important ways to improve one's language capabilities. - I also have a lot of experience over the years helping friends and family with English, and treat all students with patience and open-mindedness.
