About Kshreya
If you/your child is struggling in mathematics, it is not a matter of their aptitude, but is a reflection of the ineptitude of their teachers and the school system as a whole. Fortunately, as I was blessed with excellent math teachers in my mother and later my JEE instructor, mathematics is not only my passion but my career as well. We will delve into the barebones of the concept in healthy discussion, before building the tools and theorems that make the meat of the topic. They will learn not through forced acceptance and rote memorization of formulae, but ample problem solving that will strengthen their grasp. I am a firm believer of the Socratic method, the rife dialogue, that renders the student as much of a teacher as the teacher and their engagement will not only bring back results, but foster genuine interest. I have taught many younger cousins, neighbors, friends, and even adults and these methods have been met with success. As eminent scientist Galileo said, " You cannot teach a person anything, only help them find what is within themselves.", and I will aspire to help you/your child realize their latent potential and embody the spirit of their enduring genius.

At the beginning of each class, we will commence with a short introduction to the topic using visual examples and diagrams, punctuated if necessary with a small historical note. Then the opening problem will be laid out that I will give the student some time to think about; this opening problem will contain the essence of what we will be looking at for the day. Then, we will proceed to each subsection, which I will split into digestible portions; with each part, I will start with an explanation of what is going on, followed by a proof (if needed). Then follows an example problem that we will solve together, and then a set of problems that will gradually increase in difficulty in accordance with the student’s comfort level. Then, we will continue on to the next topic that will build on the foundation of the first. The problem-solving skills and the clarity of concept is a feedback loop that promotes both holistic understanding and exam results; You/your child’s confidence will also grow. At the end of the class, we will have a summary of what we learned today and create a sketch of what we will look at in the next class. Students will be encouraged to take notes but a LaTeX document of the covered concepts and problems, along with additional homework exercises, will be provided on request. Mock papers can also be conducted, if you desire it, to bolster confidence. Note, the student will be in constant dialogue with me, so any doubts will be clarified and answered immediately. The pupil will have to be constantly vigilant, as I will question them repeatedly and ask them to explain back ideas taught before. Depending on your preference, I can converse in English, Hindi, or some amalgam of the two. Of course, the style and tone of teaching will vary with the age and attitude of the student and I will endeavor to tailor myself to be a surrogate sibling, friend, or parent, as necessary. In time even the most averse and uninterested will gain an appreciation for the intricacies in mathematics.
