About Tabasom

Teaching is an important arena that allows knowledge to be shared. The classroom or lessons are where students can sharpen their thinking skills, intuition and intellectual curiosity. I would like to pass on my knowledge or inspire someone through teaching, show my students the potential they have and motivate them in their studies and goals. The art of teaching is unique and with my lessons, I ensure that I am delivering the utmost.
I have extensive tutoring experience, particularly with international students. My main area of tutoring focuses on humanities-centered subjects such as English, Literature and History. Last summer, I tutored Chinese students who were preparing for TOFEL, ILETS and ESL. Your program requires tutors that tutors be able to assist students in multiple subjects and my experience allows me to achieve this. This past year, I have also tutored Asian students in History, English Language and guided their college/school application agenda. Having undergone the Oxbridge application process, I was able to pinpoint focus areas and give tips for improvement. For instance, many Russel Group universities require applicants to partake in activities or academic incentives that focus on their subject choice. I was able to provide my experience and the various training I had done to other students in helping them secure their place at an esteemed university.
Further, working with students of all ages is important. As a summer volunteer to help children read at my local library, I have experience with pre-school and primary school children. Currently, I tutor two 6-year-old children who are learning to read and write. This has helped me adopt methods better suited to a younger audience, for instance, planning activities, mixing reading/phonics with challenges that entail ‘points’ or giving homework that involves active interaction. These methods help stimulate younger children and widen their attention span.

About the lesson

My lessons are interactive and break down difficult concepts to better facilitate the students understanding. From creating individualised worksheets to adapting my teaching styles to accommodate the student, my lessons are engaging and visual. Assessments and revision help fulfil objectives.
