About Maria
I have been working with actors in a teaching capacity for over 30 years. I haven't lost one yet! It can be so intimidating to try to break into the film industry and daunting to try to navigate it. I get excited by new talent and I will give you all the knowledge I have acquired in my career on set, in classes, and as a teacher. I have worked as an agent assistant, written breakdowns, been an audition reader, I have co-written scripts and I am a WORKING FILM ACTOR. What I teach is what I apply on set. I will give you a real evaluation of your skills, support you in your stated goals and I will provide all the information or sources to the information you need to begin or continue your journey as a film actor. I have over 30 years of experience as an actress and as an acting teacher. I work consistently in the American and Canadian film industries. I teach the techniques that will help you to learn how to become an actor, how to get an agent, and where and how to train. I include on-camera techniques, audition techniques, cold reading skills, and scene study. I will use only current scripts that are shooting within the last few years, so the material you will audition for is the material you will train with. Typically I will do a warm-up exercise that may include AB scene work, vocalization, or improvisation. We will work with a scene in every session that has been chosen for you and that you have been given in advance to get familiar with. I will teach you every step an actor takes from the receipt of the script to how to film your self-tape and submit.
I am a graduate of the Internationally recognized Vancouver Film School and hold 4 certificates in acting technique. I teach weekly in person and online and I have gotten 4 students signed to agents just this past Spring.
I get results and I am honest and fun to work with. I believe actors are creative entities that need to work out their craft constantly and I thrive on getting an actor signed and out auditioning. This is my lifes work and passion.
