About Derek
I have 12 years of experience teaching singing and hold a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students seeking stronger vocal skills, greater confidence, and deeper musical understanding. Helping learners reach important milestones continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
My teaching approach focuses on patience, adaptability, and clear communication. I believe every singer benefits from lessons that respect their individual learning style while encouraging continuous growth. Building confidence and consistency remains central to my teaching philosophy.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy studying vocal literature, exploring performance techniques, and attending live music events. These experiences inspire my teaching and help me bring fresh ideas into lessons. I am passionate about helping students enjoy singing while achieving lasting progress.

My singing lessons are designed to help students build a voice that feels strong, flexible, and expressive. We focus on breath coordination, vocal placement, resonance balance, pitch accuracy, diction clarity, phrasing, and emotional connection to music. Every lesson combines technical training with opportunities for creative expression.
Students explore vocal warm-ups, song interpretation exercises, listening activities, repertoire development, and performance preparation techniques. I guide learners through practical methods that make vocal improvement easier to understand and apply. Lessons are tailored to individual goals, musical interests, and experience levels.
I enjoy helping students develop confidence in their voice while discovering their unique musical strengths. Through encouraging feedback and structured support, learners strengthen technique and become more comfortable performing. My goal is to create lessons that are engaging, motivating, and rewarding.
