About Anand
As a dedicated third-year PhD researcher and Arts and Humanities Research Council Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, I bring a wealth of academic expertise and a deep passion for teaching to every lesson. With a strong foundation in Sociology, demonstrated by completing both an MPhil and a Master’s degree in the field, I am well-equipped to guide students through complex concepts with clarity and insight.
My teaching is driven by a genuine desire to engage with young minds, helping students connect academic theories to their everyday experiences. I believe that true understanding comes from seeing how these ideas shape our world, and I am committed to making this connection accessible and meaningful to each student. I prioritise creating a safe, open space for discussion where students feel encouraged to question, explore, and critically engage with the material.
With years of teaching experience behind me, I have developed a professional and compassionate approach that reassures students that they are in capable hands. My aim is not just to teach, but to inspire confidence and foster intellectual growth. As a tutor, my approach centers around making complex concepts accessible and engaging for undergraduate students. I aim to explain challenging topics by connecting them to real-life examples and linking them to current events, allowing students to see academic theory’s relevance in everyday life. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel safe expressing their thoughts and critically engaging with the texts, fostering intellectual curiosity and open discussion.
Each lesson typically lasts 50 to 75 minutes, though I also offer more in-depth 2-hour sessions for those who prefer a deeper dive into the material.
I am a third-year PhD researcher at The University of Edinburgh, with an MA and MPhil in Sociology and over five years of teaching experience. My lessons are specifically designed for undergraduate students, providing them with the tools to understand and critically engage with the subjects of sociology, anthropology, digital religion, mythology, and philosophy.
