I have been taking tuitions to primary, middle, and high school children. As I have a strong base and have a good depth of understanding about the subject I teach and also due to my Abacus and Vedic Math training and experience, my classes will be concepts-based as well as fun-filled and the student will naturally develop an interest towards the subject. My approach will be individual-based, will concentrate more on where the kid needs more focus and use my expertise to train the child accordingly.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Math isn't always about numbers. It is a subject that teaches students to think logically and to break complex problems into manageable steps. A strong foundation in Maths helps a person develop his/her problem solving skills. These skills are needed in many fields, from science and technology to everyday decision making.
I teach Math because I've always loved problem solving and logical thinking. Each and every problem in Maths is like a puzzle for me waiting to be solved. My interest grew through some great teachers during my school days who gave a simple vision of even difficult problems. Later after my marriage, I helped my kids in their studies in early schooling years and that built a strong foundation for them in Maths especially. I developed this skill and started formal tutoring to other kids in my neighbourhood. Today I love seeing my students gain confidence and master their skills in Math after right guidance. Now I enjoy making Math clearer and more accessible for all my students.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My motivation comes from the joy of helping students grow. Initially I worked as an Abacus instructor for some time and the positive feedback which I received from the parents and students gave me more confidence and motivated me to work harder and learn more. Knowing that I can make a positive difference in a student's academics is what inspires me to teach. Also watching a student mastering a subject she/he found difficult is incredibly rewarding.
  • How does your work help society?

Many students struggle with Math and may lose confidence early on. By giving them individualized support, I help ensure that students don't give up on subjects or career paths where Math is essential, like engineering ,medicine, finance and technology. Also it helps to reduce their stress levels and build their self esteem. By helping them understand Math, I support their academic success and hence contribute to create an informed and skilled community. This indirectly benefits their families, schools and society as a whole.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My role model is an English teacher I had in my school days. Until 8th grade, English was the most traumatizing subject for me as I was learning other subjects in my mother tongue. Then, in my 9th grade, I had this English teacher who came as an angel in my life. She simplified English grammar, taught me to break down complex sentences into simple ones and how to place the correct verbs based on some clue words. That totally changed my life, gave me a lot of confidence to speak and improved my English score in academics. Her approach taught me that clarity and empathy are the foundations of teaching any subject effectively. Now I try to give my students the same study encouragement that I received from her once.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside teaching, I like reading, especially personal development books and light reading novels. This helps me to relax and at the same time helps to grow as a person in my mindset and changes my approach towards life. I also enjoy walking, exercising and doing yoga which helps to maintain my fitness and also boost my energy levels. Also I enjoy learning new languages through Duolingo and playing online sudoku games. They're fun and also keep my brain active in a different way. I love baking and make cookies and cakes for my children. These hobbies help me stay energized, relaxed and focused when I'm teaching.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Yes! Once during an online session, one of my students who always told Math was not for him, solved a tough algebra problem on his own. He was then amazed, 'Did I do that?' and gave a victorious smile at me. Moment like that when confidence suddenly appears are why I love tutoring.
