About Matt
I am a former secondary and college maths teacher who now works professionally as a statistical coder. Alongside my full-time role, I specialise in high-impact one-to-one GCSE Maths tutoring, with a strong focus on exam performance rather than just topic coverage.
My strength lies in helping students understand how to score marks: mastering exam technique, breaking down complex questions, managing timing, and applying the most efficient methods under pressure. I place heavy emphasis on past paper practice, identifying common pitfalls, and turning weaker topics into reliable scoring opportunities.
I work in a highly structured, analytical way and tailor every session to the individual student’s targets and current level. This approach consistently builds confidence, clarity, and measurable improvement—particularly for students aiming for higher grades. Supporting students to reach (and often exceed) their target grades is what makes tutoring so rewarding for me.

My GCSE Maths lessons are structured, targeted, and designed specifically to improve exam results. Sessions are centred around past paper questions, exam-board style problems, and the techniques needed to consistently secure marks in real exams.
Each lesson is personalised to the student’s needs, with clear explanations, step-by-step methods, and focused practice on high-value topics. I place strong emphasis on exam technique, problem-solving strategies, and learning how to approach unfamiliar or challenging questions with confidence.
Lessons are interactive and supportive, but always purposeful. Students leave each session knowing exactly what to improve, how to revise effectively, and how to apply methods under timed conditions. I particularly specialise in GCSE exam preparation and supporting students who are aiming for strong grade improvements, including grades 7–9.
