About Elizabeth
I first started tutoring in Year 11, helping a student prepare for the 11+ exam. It really hit home for me because I had been in their shoes—I sat the 11+ myself and, thanks to the amazing support I received, I was able to attend a grammar school. That experience showed me how valuable the right guidance can be, and it inspired me to help others achieve their full potential. Now, as a university student, I tutor maths from KS2 to A-Level, specializing in 11+ preparation. My goal is to make learning engaging, tailored, and effective so that my students can build confidence and succeed.

My teaching approach is personalized, structured, and designed to build both understanding and confidence. Sessions can range from 1 to 2 hours, and students can have as many lessons per week as fits both their schedule and mine.
A typical lesson begins with a quick recap of previous topics to reinforce learning. I like to go through worked examples with students first, breaking down each step before encouraging them to try similar problems independently. For 11+ students, I incorporate mock exams and topic-based tests after we’ve covered key areas to track progress and build exam confidence. For GCSE and A-Level students, I emphasise exam technique, ensuring they understand not just how to solve problems but how to secure full marks. I also offer homework upon request, based on what we’ve covered in the lesson, which I mark and review to reinforce learning.
I believe in making maths engaging and accessible, using real-world examples to bring abstract concepts to life. My lessons are interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, think critically, and develop problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom. With regular progress tracking, personalised feedback, and a supportive learning environment, I help students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
