I'm Rayyan
5 Years of Teaching Experience
I specialise in helping ambitious students develop strong mathematical understanding, aim for A/A* grades, and tackle challenging problems beyond the standard syllabus.
My Mathematics Background
• KMC Gold Medalist
• 3rd place — University of Malaya Mathematics Competition (2024)
• 3 A*s in A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, which I self-studied and completed in 9 months
• A* grades across IGCSE
• Recently coached an Olympiad Mathematics prep workshop for IMONST Malaysia for students preparing for the Malaysian IMO

How I Teach
My focus is on understanding concepts. I want students to understand WHY a method works. Often, teachers drill formulas without a clear explanation.
I provide structured teaching, difficult exam questions and targeted exam preparation. For stronger students, I focus more heavily on unfamiliar problems, mathematical reasoning, proof and problem-solving techniques.
Who My Lessons Are For
I am particularly suited to students who:
• Are aiming for A/A* grades
• Want to move beyond routine textbook questions
• Are taking A-Level or Further Mathematics
• Want to prepare for STEP, MAT, ESAT UK Math Entrance tests or Mathematics Olympiads
• Enjoy challenging mathematics and want to develop stronger problem-solving ability
I also have a background in competitive programming and algorithms, which has further developed my approach to mathematical and logical problem solving.
My goal is not simply to help students complete their homework, but to make them substantially more confident in tackling unfamiliar mathematics.

About the Lesson
My lessons are tailored to the student’s level, goals, and syllabus. I focus on building genuine mathematical understanding and problem-solving ability rather than simply teaching formulas or standard procedures.
For IGCSE, A-Level, Further Mathematics and IB, lessons can cover difficult topics, challenging exam questions, past papers, and targeted preparation for top grades.
For Olympiad and university entrance tests, lessons focus more heavily on unfamiliar problems, mathematical reasoning, creative approaches, and learning how to think through problems systematically. This includes preparation for math competitions and UK entrance tests such as TMUA, STEP and ESAT.
I can also work with strong students who want to go beyond their current syllabus and explore more advanced mathematics.
Lessons are interactive: we work through problems together, identify gaps in understanding, and develop methods the student can eventually apply independently.
