About Jessica
I am a dynamic, creative, and deeply engaged teacher of English as both a first and an additional language. I take pride in creating inclusive, responsive learning environments where my students feel supported and challenged.
Over the course of my career, I have accumulated hundreds of hours of experience editing, translating, and providing thoughtful written and oral feedback on academic work at the graduate and professional levels. This work has strengthened my ability to guide learners toward clarity, precision, and confidence in their language use.
With twenty years of professional experience across Canada, Italy, and Japan, I bring a rich international perspective to my teaching practice. I am also a certified teacher in both the province of Quebec and the province of Nova Scotia, reflecting my ongoing commitment to professional excellence.

I am an experienced English language educator with over twenty years of teaching experience. I hold both a B.Ed. in TESOL and an M.Ed. in TESOL, and I am deeply committed to a communicative approach to language teaching. Whether the focus is writing, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, or another area, I prioritize meaningful interaction and real-world language use.
My lesson plans follow a clear and effective structure, typically including a warm-up, modeling, guided practice, independent practice, a conclusion, and targeted feedback. This framework ensures that students are supported at every stage of their learning while gradually building confidence and autonomy.
In writing lessons, for example, I emphasize a balance of interactive, student-centered activities while consistently building on learners’ prior knowledge. I take a process-based approach, breaking writing tasks into manageable stages such as planning, drafting, and reviewing. Lessons are carefully organized into 15–20 minute segments to maintain engagement and allow for focused skill development.
What sets me apart is not only my extensive experience, but also my specialized training in TESOL and my ability to tailor lessons to each student’s needs, abilities, and interests. I strive to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment where every student can succeed.
