About Freya
I'm a 19-year-old English student at the University of Bristol with a lifelong interest in literature, especially poetry and classic texts. English has always been the one subject that truly motivated me to continue my academics, and that deep love for reading and writing is what drove me to start teaching professionally at such a young age. I work as a supply teaching assistant, gaining experience teaching children from nursery school to secondary schools. I am always immersed in historical literature and classic novels, fascinated by studying the history and distinct eras that shaped them. I also write poetry and prose in my free time as a hobby. But above all, my main goal as a tutor is to help students feel much fonder of the subject and see it as less daunting by creating a friendly, supportive environment where they can discover their own confidence and feel the same enthusiasm I have for the English.

How I Structure My Lessons

My lessons begin with low-pressure introductory sessions. This allows me to assess the tutee's current learning level, identify key strengths and target areas, and discover their unique learning style (for example, whether it is visual, structured, or discussion-based). From there I create tailored lesson plans that cover the complete English spectrum from foundational literacy and creative writing to unseen poetry and GCSE close-reading techniques.

As an English student at the University of Bristol and an active Supply Teaching Assistant, I am experienced with teaching all age groups. Having achieved an A* in A-Level English Literature and worked directly with students across key stages, I know exactly what top-tier exam boards look for and how to make complex texts approachable and engaging.
