About Olya

Teaching has been a huge part of my life since I was a teenager, but when I’m not online with my students, you’ll usually find me out in the community garden. I’m a massive gardening enthusiast, and I also love making the most of Melbourne’s great coffee scene, going for weekend hikes, and traveling whenever I get the chance (and yes, I make a mean tiramisu!)

Because I’m bilingual myself, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to master a language, especially English phonetics. Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked with pretty much everyone—from energetic kids learning to read, to adults polishing their pronunciation for work.

Our sessions will be relaxed but highly focused. I’m patient, direct, and genuinely invested in helping you or your child build real confidence.

About the lesson

My name is Olya, and I bring 25 years of teaching experience to help students master English, reading, and phonetics. Holding a BA in Ecology, I combine a highly structured, analytical approach with a deep understanding of language mechanics. My lessons are designed for all age groups and skill levels, from children building early literacy skills to high school students and adult ESL learners aiming for academic and professional fluency.

My teaching methodology focuses on immediate, practical progress. For school-aged students, I use targeted phonics and reading comprehension techniques that keep learners focused in an online setting, directly improving their grades and essay writing. For adult learners, my approach prioritizes accent reduction, clear pronunciation, and conversational confidence.

Lessons are structured for 50 minutes, providing the optimal balance of intensive instruction and practical application. By tailoring every session to the individual’s exact pace and goals, I ensure that students see measurable improvement from their very first lesson.
