My approach to tutoring takes a personalised, student-centered learning approach.
Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
I employ a variety of techniques to cater to diverse learning styles, including interactive discussions, practical exercises, and real-world applications. I adapt my teaching methodology to the specific needs and preferences of each student, emphasising understanding over rote memorisation. Encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning are fundamental aspects of my approach.
some of my techniques I absolutely adore:
1. CPA in Maths which stands for Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract
2. The ‘TOLD’ acronym which summarises four key principles for encouraging productive talk in mathematics lessons
3. Webb's Depth of Knowledge:
Recollection and reproduction
Knowledge application
Strategic thinking
Extended critical thinking
4. Formative/ summative assessment to measure understanding, talk through misconceptions, and correct learning strategies etc
Typical Length of a Lesson:
The duration of my lessons typically ranges from 1 hour to 2 hour lessons depending on the subject, student's age, and individual learning pace. I believe in striking a balance between covering necessary material and maintaining engagement.
Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:
I hold a degree in Education Studies.
Additionally, I have 8 years of experience as a tutor, during which I've worked with a diverse range of students, from year 2 to post-sixteen college/ sixth form students. My experience allows me to tailor my teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
