About Matt
Matt Callaway Volleyball Coaching provides elite training systems specifically for serious volleyball players who want to play the 'middle blocker/attacker' position at the next level.
Matt Callaway's experience at coaching the 'middle blocker/attacker' position comes from his selection as a 1st Team All-Condference, All-State, and High School 'All-American' while playing 'middle' for 3 years on the Wheaton-Warrenville South Varsity Volleyball Team including the 2012, undefeated (42-0) State Champions and Natioanal Champions WWSHS Tiger team.
While in high school, Matt also played club volleyball with the Sports Performance Club Team in Aurora, IL for 4 years and his teams qualified for USA Volleyball Boys Nationals all four years with a 5th Place finish in 2011.
Matt then went on to being a 4-year starter at 'middle' for the Penn State Nittany Lions (2013-2017) leading the team in both blocks/set and service percentage.
Matt has also played the 'middle' position for two seasons of professional club volleyball overseas in both Estonia and Romania.
Matt has held assistant coaching positions for both the boys and girls Varsity teams (2017-present) under Coach Bill Schreier at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, and for the men's Varsity team at Dominican University (2019) under Coach Cameron Andrew.
Matt has also coached both boys and girls club volleyball throughout the Chicagoland area club teams.
I fell in love with the sport of volleyball when I was first introduced to the game as a freshman at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School. The history and tradition of 'championship' volleyball at WWSHS under Coach Bill Schreier helped me experience, first hand, the mindset of a 'winner' and the work ethic for what it takes to achieve greatness in the sport... and while playing the 'middle' position.
My commitment as a coach of young players aspiring to reach the 'next' level is to provide them with everything they need with regard to the physical conditioning, mental training, and skills development specific to playing the 'middle blocker/attacker' position.
As a player, I've played with some of the greatest players in the world, and I've been coached by many of the best coaches in the world. Now as a coach myself, I know how to help volleyball players find greatness in themselves and to achieve elite levels in the sport. Training safely and effectively, developing playing skills that help you reach your full potential, and having 'fun' is my commitment to you as your coach!
